Daylio Premium Expired Unexpectedly on Android
If Daylio suddenly says your Premium has expired even though you have a lifetime purchase or a valid subscription, we’re here to help.
You do not need to pay twice. We’ll help you restore access to your existing subscription or Lifetime Premium purchase. Please do not buy Premium again or start a new subscription to resolve this issue.
We’re sorry for the worry and inconvenience. Follow the steps below, and if you still need help, contact us at hello@daylio.net with your Google Play order number starting with GPA.
Why is this happening?
Following an update to how Daylio checks purchases with Google Play, some Android users may find that their existing Premium purchase is no longer recognized.
A common cause is having multiple Google accounts on the phone. Your purchase may belong to one account, while Google Play is providing Daylio with purchase information from another. The account used to install Daylio also matters, so switching the account shown in the Play Store may not be enough. Reinstalling Daylio through the account with your purchase, or temporarily removing the other accounts, can help restore access.
The “Premium expired” message does not necessarily mean your purchase has expired. Lifetime Premium does not expire with time. For subscriptions, check the current status in Google Play to confirm that your subscription is still valid.
How do I restore my Premium?
Start with steps 1 and 2. If Premium is restored, you can stop there. If Google Play shows a valid purchase but Daylio still does not recognize it, continue with the backup and account troubleshooting steps.
Before uninstalling Daylio or removing Google accounts, create and check your backup in step 3.
1. Find the Google account with your purchase
Open Google Play Store → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions.
- Lifetime purchase: open Budget & history and look for your Daylio purchase. Lifetime purchases are not listed under Subscriptions.
- Subscription: open Subscriptions → Daylio and check its current status and expiration date. An old payment receipt alone does not confirm that a subscription is still valid.
If you cannot find Daylio, switch to each of your other Google accounts using the profile icon and check again. Your original Google Play purchase confirmation email can also help you find the right account.
Google provides instructions for checking your order history, viewing subscriptions, and adding or switching accounts.
2. Try restoring your purchase
- In the Play Store, select the Google account with your Daylio purchase. Add it to your phone first if it is missing.
- Make sure you are connected to the internet, then close and reopen Daylio.
- Open the Premium screen and tap Restore purchases, if available. In some versions, opening the Premium screen starts the check automatically.
Restoring a purchase does not require you to confirm a new payment. If Premium is still missing, restart your phone and try again. Also check for updates to Daylio and the Play Store.
If you have multiple Google accounts and can see a valid purchase, but restoring it does not work, continue with steps 3 and 4.
3. Back up your diary before continuing
Open More → Backup & Restore in Daylio and create an up-to-date backup. Wait for it to finish, including any photos. Check the success confirmation, the backup date, and the Google account where it is stored.
Also create a manual backup through Backup & Restore → Advanced Options → Export. Save the exported backup file somewhere you can access after uninstalling Daylio, such as your computer or cloud storage. Check that the export has finished and the file is saved.
Use Daylio’s backup export for this step. CSV and PDF exports cannot be used to restore your diary. See our instructions for cloud backup and restore and manual backup files.
If your backup fails, or you are unsure whether you can access it, do not uninstall Daylio or remove any accounts. Contact us using step 6.
4. Reinstall Daylio using the account with your purchase
This is the recommended next step when you have multiple Google accounts and restoring a valid purchase has not worked. Use it also if Daylio was installed through a different account than the one with your purchase.
- After completing and checking your backup, uninstall Daylio.
- Open the Google Play Store and select the Google account with your Daylio purchase using the profile icon.
- Search for Daylio directly in the Play Store and install it.
- Open Daylio and check Premium as described in step 2.
- Restore your diary from your latest backup using Backup & Restore.
Your backup account may be different from your purchase account. Use the account where you saved your backup to restore your diary. You do not need to move the backup to your purchase account. If the backup account is missing from your phone, add it back after checking Premium, then restore your diary.
If Premium is still missing, continue with step 5.
5. Temporarily remove your other Google accounts
If reinstalling through the correct account did not help, try restoring Premium with only the Google account that owns your Daylio purchase on your phone.
Before continuing, check your Daylio backup and make sure your other important account data is synced. You must also be able to sign back into every account you remove, including completing two-step verification.
Removing an account from your phone also removes its emails, contacts, and associated settings from that device. It does not permanently delete the Google account. See Google’s account removal instructions.
- Open Phone Settings → Accounts / Passwords & accounts / Manage accounts. The name varies by device.
- Temporarily remove your other Google accounts from the phone. Keep the account with your Daylio purchase signed in. Use Remove account in your phone’s settings; do not permanently delete any Google account.
- Restart the phone, open the Play Store, and check that the purchase account is selected. Then open Daylio and try restoring Premium again.
- If it still does not work, check your backup and repeat step 4 while only the purchase account is on your phone.
- After checking Premium, add your other accounts back through Phone Settings → Accounts → Add account → Google. Restore your diary from your original backup account if you have not already done so.
- Reopen Daylio and check Premium again. If the problem persists or returns after adding your accounts back, contact us using step 6 below.
If you cannot remove an account or are unsure whether you can sign back into it, contact us before proceeding.
6. Contact us if you still need help
If Premium is still missing, the problem returns, or you need help with these steps, email hello@daylio.net and include your Google Play order number starting with GPA. You can find it in your purchase confirmation email from Google Play.
Frequent Questions
I bought Lifetime Premium years ago. Do I need a subscription now?
No. A valid Lifetime Premium purchase does not need to be replaced with a subscription. Follow the steps above so Daylio can recognize your existing purchase again.
Will reinstalling Daylio cancel my subscription?
No. Uninstalling an app does not cancel its Google Play subscription. You do not need to cancel or buy a new subscription to troubleshoot recognition of your existing purchase.
Do I need to keep my other Google accounts removed?
The account removal step is temporary. Add your accounts back after checking Premium. If Premium disappears again after you add them back, contact us using step 6 rather than repeatedly removing accounts or reinstalling Daylio.
What if I no longer have access to the account with my purchase?
Try recovering your Google account. Google Play does not allow purchases to be transferred between accounts. If you still need help, contact us with your GPA order number as described in step 6.
