How to transfer backup between platforms

What is a Backup File?

The Backup File contains all your entries, moods, activities, and settings. You can export or import it back to Daylio. Use this file to manually backup Daylio data anywhere you like or transfer your data from Android to iOS and back.

Backup File vs manual or automatic cloud backups

The backup File needs to be exported manually via Advanced Options. You cannot use your regular or automatic backup file to transfer data to another platform.

We still strongly advise using automatic cloud backups in addition to using the Backup File. Automatic backups are done after every entry and your data will be always safe.

How to transfer Backup File?

There are many ways to do it and many apps you can use. We will describe the most basic ways to transfer your data.

Before you start, make sure Daylio is updated to the latest version on both phones. You might need to open Google Play or App Store and manually update the app.

Android Export

1Open Daylio > Tap More > Backup & Restore

For security reasons, we recommend doing export every time before importing backup. This is just in case your import file might be different than you expect.1
